Here is exactly how we order listings, build comparisons, and handle corrections and commercial relationships.
The mechanics
How it actually works
Ordering and filters
Paid placements appear in a labelled Sponsored section. BestCompare keeps them separate from organic results. When more than one Placement is eligible, rotation uses the fewest first-party impressions, then an hourly slot. Payment does not change organic or comparison order.
Within each group, we order organic results by suburb. We show the nearest suburbs first. You can change this order. You can also use filters to narrow the results.
Impression measurement
BestCompare records a sponsored impression only after the result becomes visible. It does not count a second impression in the same result view. Dashboard totals sum recorded events for a chosen UTC date range. These totals are not estimates.
BestCompare does not show estimated traffic, enquiries, or revenue as measured values.
Verification badge
The public badge names the credential BestCompare checked and the check date. Payment never changes a credential check result.
A Listing can stay published after Sponsored Placement ends. The badge is not a paid ranking.
Comparisons
A comparison page shows two published listings side by side. It uses data that already exists in BestCompare.
A comparison is not a recommendation. It does not claim that one business is better than the other. If a value is missing, we show it as unavailable. We do not guess missing values.
Listings, ratings, and freshness
Listing data can come from three sources: the business, public sources, and our review process. Coverage and freshness vary between listings. A rating or review count can come from a third-party source.
Confirm important details with the business directly. This includes availability, qualifications, and prices.
Corrections and commercial relationships
A business can request a correction to its listing. A business can also manage its own information.
A commercial relationship with BestCompare does not change the factual fields on a listing. Payment does not count as evidence of quality.
