How we make money
Free to search. Funded by businesses.
BestCompare is free for people comparing local businesses. We are funded by the businesses listed here—through paid placement, our Website Builder subscription, and quoted business services.
Where the money comes from
Three ways businesses fund BestCompare
Comparing and contacting businesses is always free for you. Every dollar comes from businesses, not from people using the site.
Paid placement
Some businesses pay to appear in a labelled paid position within search results, ahead of the organic, proximity-ordered listings.
Paid placement is advertising. It is not a recommendation, and it does not mean the business is better than the ones below it.
Website Builder subscriptions
Businesses can pay a monthly subscription to have BestCompare build, host and publish a website for them.
This is a separate product from a listing. A business does not need to subscribe to Website Builder to appear in search or comparisons.
Quoted business services
Website design, ongoing maintenance, SEO and planned premium listing options are additional services a business can register interest in, priced around its own needs.
Registering interest in a service does not change how that business's listing appears in organic search results.
What doesn't change
Payment never buys the facts, ratings, or reviews
A commercial relationship with BestCompare—paid placement, a Website Builder subscription, or any other paid service—does not change the factual fields on a listing, such as a business's address, services, or contact details.
Ratings and review counts are not for sale. A business cannot pay to raise its rating, add reviews, or remove genuine ones. Organic search ordering, which is based on suburb proximity, is not affected by any payment.
Any paid placement is always clearly labelled, so you can tell at a glance which results are advertising and which are ordered organically. See how BestCompare works for the full detail on ordering, comparisons, and corrections.
