Compare Dr. Andrew Broadhurst
- What does a plastic surgeon do?
- A plastic surgeon performs reconstructive and cosmetic procedures involving areas such as the face, breast, body, skin and soft tissue. Individual surgeons have different scopes of practice.
- When is a plastic surgeon the right specialist?
- A plastic surgeon may be appropriate when you are considering reconstructive or cosmetic surgery. Start with your GP if you are unsure which specialist or non-surgical service fits your needs.
- How do I check a surgeon's credentials?
- Search the Ahpra register for current medical registration and the relevant specialist field. In Australia, the title 'surgeon' is restricted to doctors with specified specialist registration.
- Do I need a referral?
- Requirements depend on the procedure and how it is funded. Ask the clinic and your GP whether a referral is needed before booking.
- What should I prepare for a consultation?
- Prepare your goals, medical history, medicines, allergies, previous procedures and questions about risks, alternatives, recovery and expected results.
- What should I compare between plastic surgeons?
- Compare specialist registration, experience with the specific procedure, facility arrangements, total costs, risks, aftercare, revision policies and the time provided for an informed decision.
